Commercial - Chevy Silverado - Download

Session Brief

Ok, here's another commercial for you. Advertising is something I've done a lot of. Working in audio for advertising is a great way to make a living. There's consistent money in this genre of audio post. I've made lifelong friends and loyal clients in the advertising industry, but I've also been able to do film and music work at well. Don't discount working in ads. It could be your gateway into working on big films by giving you access to people that can help expand your career.

So on this spot, follow all the rules set forth on the previous promo spot. Don't use the OMF/AAF file! Do it the hard way! Listen to the raw vo takes (there are just a few) and cut the best sounding composite read. Edit the music down to fit the read. This is a :10 second spot!

I want you to do hundreds of these so that you get faster and faster.... and more creative. Ask yourself this question. If you were a studio owner, who would you rather hire. Someone with 5 sessions under their belt, or someone that's done 200? (I'll remind you of this a lot! ;-) Stick with me on this and you'll find out!

Ok, let me paint a picture for you. For a spot like this, my clients would book a 3 or 4 hour session! In NYC that session would cost my client between 450 and 500 dollars an hour! I do the same work from home because of the new remote work world now! Because I work from home I charge a little less at 375 an hour. I'm not bragging here, I just want you to know all the details about how I run my business and how post production studios work. I'll go over a lot more about billing, clients and running a business through my live tutorials and later in this apprenticeship, but until then, edit and mix this commercial spot and have fun, especially editing the music to fit 10 seconds!

PS- Should you add truck sound effects? Sure! This is an audio only spot, and although short, you can make it more engaging with a truck engine rev or two!

Deliverables

Print logical mix and splits. You know, a breakout that makes sense. Voice, music and a full mix. Let's change things up a bit. It's very common nowadays to have to output multiple levels. If this was a TV spot it would air on the Networks and also the web. Create mix and splits for both web and TV! -24LKFS and -16LKFS. Name the files properly to indicate what they are for, broadcast or web.
